Project Checkpoint 5
For this first check-in, your goal is to create the foundational structure (“shell”) of your Quarto dashboard. This dashboard will evolve over the next several weeks, so think of this as setting up a clean, organized framework that you can easily build on later.
For this checkpoint, your group will transform the written report from Project 1 into a Quarto dashboard format. You do not need to fully redesign or perfect your content yet—focus on structure and organization.
Your (one-page) dashboard should include the following structural elements:
A navigation logo in the navbar (e.g., a simple logo representing your project theme)
Social/contact icons in the navbar or footer (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter/X, email, etc.)
A non-default theme (choose a Bootswatch theme or customize one)
At least two tabsets (on the same page)
Expectations
Content from Project 1 should be meaningfully reorganized into dashboard form (not just copied and pasted). Visual polish is not the focus yet, but organization and usability are.
Think of this checkpoint as building the structure of a house—making sure the rooms exist and are arranged well. In later checkpoints, we will refine visuals, add interactivity, and improve design.
